Public Transport Victoria - 30% Off Public Transport Fares for Weekday Off-Peak Services in Melbourne for 3 Months [Starts 31st Jan]

Just spotted this in the news feed!

Tram, train and bus fares across Melbourne are being reduced by 30 per cent for some off-peak services.

For three months from January 31, public transport fares for weekday off-peak services (that is, travel between 9.30am and 4pm and after 7pm) will be discounted by 30 per cent to encourage commuters to spread their travel throughout the day. So if you think your boss might be open to the idea of flexible work hours, now is the time to have that chat.

Keep in mind that the discount only applies to Myki money fares (not passes) and you must touch on and off for the discount to apply (important to remember if you're travelling by tram). You'll also need to be travelling in either zone one or zone one and two, not just zone two.

The temporary reduction in off-peak fares follows major changes to Melbourne's train timetable, which also come into effect January 31. There will be an extra 280 metro services running each week, changes to journey times and changes to the city loop on the Cranbourne, Frankston and Pakenham lines. Visit the PTV website to find out more.
