Technology to bring to a Family Road Trip ?
This weekend me & my family are heading out for a two week adventure to South Coast, NSW. I thought it will be fun to ask the community about the technology we should bring along to keep us steady, happy and on track. Any ideas ?

It really depends on whether you are going to have regular access to a power source and what sort of accommodation you will have. Since you mentioned adventure, I am assuming this trip will involve camping or hiking and in that case, make sure you have power banks or solar chargers for your phone or iPad but really can't suggest much without knowing the details of your trip.

Adventure to me generally involves extended periods away from dependable power sources, so yes some form of solar system or batteries would be good to power those technical widgets - but I'd concentrate on things that are family centric. Going somewhere and having the kids have their heads buried in the iThings probably is something to try to avoid. The camera of course is good (go a 'rugged' job if you plan to get wet etc), maybe an iPad or similar that can play some movies when things are tough but also that can show the photos from the past few days..... I know my wife will go nowhere without her Kindle.... but other than that and maybe a decent sound dock/speaker to play music I'd go the non-technical route and look at card games (normal, Uno, etc), celebrity head, a joke book, that sort of thing.
As an aside, this (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...) is a brilliant bit of kit. Five smart USB ports - just need to replace the cable or use an adapter.....

power banks or solar chargers are useful for travel, no matter if the accommondation is good, there is camping or hiking. Forewarned Is Forearmed

Well, sorry if I didn't see it in other comments, but I never go anywhere without my kindle, even if it's a busy trip half an hour of a good book can relax you quite a lot ;)
