ASOS is a global online only fashion and beauty retailer. With global sales estimated to reach a billion pounds in 2015, Asos is not only the United Kingdom’s largest online fashion and beauty retailer but it is also a leading online fashion retailer in many other countries including Australia. Asos Australia (headquartered in Sydney) operations began in 2011 and Sydney was the first Asos international office outside UK. Globally, Asos offers more than 75,000 products for both male and female customers by using an aggressive multi-channel online fashion retailing strategy using sales promotions and coupon campaigns. Most of Asos.com products are available to Australian customers through Asos’s customized site front for Australian market.
Founded in June 2000 by Quentin Griffiths and Nick Robertson, ASOS global operations are still headquartered in Camden Town, London, England but now Asos.com now sells its fashion products to over 240 countries in the world and its websites are visited by over a million visitors every day. The company delivers branded and own label products including dresses, t-shirts, shoes, lingerie, jewellery and much more. ASOS has websites targeting clients from various countries including UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, US, Russia and China and in 2013 Asos.com expanded its international presence by opening international offices in New York (USA), Lille (France), Berlin (Germany) and Shanghai (China). ASOS has two distribution centres located in the UK (Barnsley and Camden Town) and one European warehouse in Berlin to serve over 99% of the online orders from over 8.8 million active customers in over 240 countries.
According to Comscore international rankings, Asos.com was ranked #1 in Australia in Fashion & Clothing segment based on website traffic in August 2014. Asos received #1 ranking in the home UK market while its global rank was #6. This makes Australia a strategically important market for Asos. Asos.com receives strong customer reviews and enjoys strong customer loyalty in the form of positive online reviews and repeat purchases. ASOS Australia primarily targets customers in their 20s or early 30s with its range of clothes and accessories. All fashion products on Asos.com are classified as Asos labels or fashion brands. Asos own label collections include dresses, coats, jersey basics, knitwear, lingerie, footwear, and accessories for women and t-shirts, suits and jeans collections for men.
Women’s major fashion brands available through Asos include Calvin Klein, Abercrombie & Fitch, Farah, Cheap Monday, Boohoo, Levis, Adidas, Nike, Oasis, Missguided. Elemis and Gipsy and many more. Promotions: Asos.com regularly provides promo codes for online shoppers to help them save on their purchases. Popular Asos promo code discounts can get you 30% off total order, gifts with purchase, student discounts, free upgrade to express shipping, promo codes for items on sale (note: most regular discount codes are only applicable on products that are not on sale.) and promo codes for major sale events such as Boxing Day sales, end of season sale clearances and other markdown events.
Tip: You can bookmark this page to keep up to date on Asos coupons and promo codes for Australian customers.
Shipping: Currently, Asos.com offers free shipping as long as minimum order size is $40 and most customers can expect to receive their orders within 7 working days. In some case, customers receive their order within 3-4 days but if you are in a rush, you can pay an extra $10 for express shipping upgrade on your order and your order is guaranteed to be delivered within 3 days. This is certainly not as fast as Asos next day delivery in the UK or same delivery from The Iconic but it’s a very reasonable and well priced shipping service compared to most other global retailers.
Returns: Asos returns are handled in a large processing center in Swiebodzin, Poland. However, Australian shoppers are not required to send their returns internationally. All items purchased from Asos can only be returned within 28 days from the date order was delivered to a customer. Returns are free for Australian orders now. You need to fill in a return form and then chose from three options for your returns: Parcel Point drop offs, Courier Pick up or Australia Post drop off. Once your return items are posted back to Asos, you will be issued a refund or store credit less return postage cost. Currently, Asos does not allow exchanges or size changes and you can only return items for a refund.
Asos Premier VIP Customers: For $39 per year membership free, Asos offers free express shipping and free returns on all orders for its VIP customers. As a VIP customer, you also get early access to Asos sales and promotions. You can find out more about this program on Asos website.
Tip: If you are planning to make 4 or more orders per year, it is worthwhile to pay $40 for premiere membership as express shipping upgrade costs $10 per order and with 4 orders, your membership will pay for itself plus you will have free returns and other benefits.
Asos Student Discount: Asos.com offers 10% off to students on every order. All you need to do is to register on this page using a university email address and a 10% discount will be applied on all your future orders from Asos. More details are on this page.
Asos Marketplace is another new initiative from Asos where other sellers can list their products for sale on Asos.com in a similar way Amazon.com or eBay operates. These sellers have to maintain strict feedback and quality standards defined by Asos.com and they generally provide a reasonably good service. Please note that not all of the products listed on Asos Marketplace are eligible for shipping to Australia but you can directly check with the seller before making a purchase.
