We got one of these recently, and can't believe how good it is. Threw out our old corded vacuum as this has same power as the of one. Expensive piece of machinery but well worth it. The other version, Non animal, is a bit cheaper generally. We have 2 babies and this is the best thing ever. I have never vacuumed so much, my wife is a bit jealous :-)

Agreed, although we have the non-animal hair jobs, and without the long reach wand. We love the things - we bought ones years ago and (after three years or so) the battery was no longer keeping a charge for long. So we got another, and I also bought a new battery for the old one. We now have one downstairs, and one upstairs! The usual hand held vacs are fine for the first few weeks, then they lose suction. These work pretty much as good as the day you bought them.... and spares are easy to get as well from the Dyson website (free shipping - www.dyson.com.au). Still use a corded (Dyson as well!) vacuum every now and then, but for the most part these do the job brilliantly. My old one came with a wall mount/charger that is very handy. The new ones I don't think come with them by default (I know my new one didn't) but you can get them as an option - except for the wand jobs where it simply wouldn't work because of the wand itself.

DC16 (original, came with wall mount and a stack of accessories we've never used) and DC30 (some accessories, but no wall mount). Maybe people complained so they started including it again! ;-)

Just noticed in the local 'Good Guys' catalogue the DC35 on sale for $399 (less for cash) - I'd expect that if you'd prefer to get it from a bricks & mortar shop, and can pay in cash, they'd probably match or even better this price...
