foc.us transcranial direct current stimulation (tdcs) Gadget

My shipment from Comgateway this morning included foc.us, a transcranial direct current stimulation (tdcs) Gadget. I have tried it briefly and shocks were quite strong on my head although they shouldn't kill me.

It's an interesting gadget but not sure if I will be using it regularly.

Here's some info on the gadget and what it can do. http://www.foc.us/

It's supposed to be for better performance generally but they don't want to make a big claim as yet so they are hiding behind gaming claims.

Apparently, most people either have too fast (worrying) or too slow (procrastinating) brains and anode/cathode combination is supposed to slow down/speed up the brains accordingly. The only trouble is that a common user wouldn't know what type of stimulation and for how long they would require it for.

I badly need this at Cricket if it really works. My last 4 scores have been 8, 6, 3 and 0 :(

That looks absolutely hilarious. I have to say my potty head initially saw the link and thought it was a dirty word.... until it clicked and I went "ohhhh - 'foh-cuss' as in a lens or concentration". Gotcha. Maybe I need one of these! Seriously, I'm sure that in controlled lab conditions, managed by experts, this could have a positive impact on some people.... but doing it to myself at home sounds a bit like whipping out the Wiltshire stay-sharp and performing some Lasik surgery on my eyes ie maybe not advisable. Having said that, though, will be interested if you notice any measurable positive results more than might be attributed to the placebo affect.

That's the thing, it's bloody hard to objectively measure results when you have spent $250 on a gadget with so far no proven science behind it.

I haven't used beyond that first use and will keep it stored away until some data on the effectiveness comes out.

If anyone else wants to give it a go, I am happy to lend it.

Well, unlike those 'energy bands' and other snake oil doodads, this does appear to have some science behind it, but I suspect it might be a little early yet for a consumer device..... Still, we be interested to see how it goes.
