Dick Smith Brand survives - Ruslan Kogan buys Dick Smith Online

I thought it was completely the end of the road for Dick Smith, but looks like the online channel has survived! Ruslan Kogan, the founder of Kogan.com has bought the online part of Dick Smith. Although the bricks and mortar stores are gone, we still have the online channel in place. So hopefully we will have more deals! I thought I made my final post for Dick Smith already in January.

Not sure how Dick Smith online will change, considering everything from Kogan are grey imports (overseas models).

The reason for the acquisition is pretty simple: to have more clout with suppliers and further reduce costs.

It’s a big move for Kogan as he looks to float his business on the ASX through a $300 million IPO in the second half of this year.

$300 million... Hahaha... Considering Dick Smith was floated for $500 million, and now he's acquired Dick Smith, trying to fix up their issues. I think a lot of people are not going to have the confidence to invest in Kogan.

Yeah it seems like Dick Smith might also sink Kogan as running two brands is risky. The final victim will be Kogan before this is over.

They don't seem to hold up to their slogan, it seems.

I don't think any of these guys will be at a loss. Rather, ordinary buyers and workers who were left without work suffered.
