Best Price on Samsung Galaxy S4

Today's challenge is to find the best price for Samsung Galaxy S4 (outright and unlocked) in Australia.

Let's see who can find the best price for Samsung Galaxy S4 in Australia.

Good luck!

Note: You need to register an account if you want to post links. It takes a few seconds and you will also be able to participate in weekly competition ($1000 in prizes every month). Thanks

Some rules:

  1. Price must include total cost to get it in your hands - so shipping, insurance, etc. This is particularly true where it is an overseas supplier where shipping costs can be significant and insurance is mandatory because if it gets damaged or lost you could lose the lot.
  2. If grey market, must include a local warranty equivalent to local stock
  3. Price means to own it
  4. Price excludes possible additional discounts through gift card discounts unless they can be purchased at the same shop at the same time
  5. Must be able to buy the item ie past sales (like my eBay example) or limited stock (catchathon type deals) excluded

$559 delivered at citiwide.
$549+$10 insured delivery.

Not sure I like their site though - have to deselect a whole stack of options such as a headset etc that otherwise bumps the price up. There's also a surcharge if you pay by paypal (and I suspect credit card) so would need to do a bank transfer.

Although they seem to like to do battle in court, Samsung has been a major supplier of parts to Apple for many years. Even the latest iPhone processor is made by Samsung, so it's too late - you're using a Samsung without knowing it! ;-)

As much as I am tempted by the all caps and multiple exclamation marks, it would be a +1 from me on that.... ;-)

I am sad to know that, because I just cannot stand Samsung. I am such a strong and loyal Apple customer.

@fluhttahx

I don't think anybody called you dodgy, comments were meant for the website you were linking. I am pretty sure that either they are selling fake iPads or will take your money or will not post you anything. Here's a thread we started a while ago on identifying such websites.
http://www.topbargains.com.au/forum/...

Our purpose is not to 'discriminate' against answers but making sure to filter out potentially unreliable websites. That website doesn't even have a 'contact us' page and has every indication of being a dodgy site.

You are more than welcome to contribute to our community but be assured that all we are trying to do is to help each other here in finding and sharing good bargains.

Cheers

here is the link to the contact us page it was right there on the home page, and just because 1 person had a bad experience should not mean it is a bad place, I could give go put a bad rating on u but that does not mean it is 100% validated. My best mates mum just received a GOLD iphone 5 and Emma has one on order also, I have had many bad experiences with ebay in the past and can not believe that you can say that there is not one bad review from every other persons answers, because yes I do know there are dodgy sites but i would not have put this up if it was not a valid site. I spend my life shopping (and studying) and I am extremely good budgeter and here is another review saying how awesome they are too ok

@fluhttahx

First of all, you should stop defending a suspicious looking site. When you keep putting their links in your posts again and again, it seems like you have an interest in promoting them.

fluhttahx wrote:

And may I ask how did you even accumulate that Karma? I have never seen any posts or comments from you and I have been a regular user for a long time.

You don't get jokes? do you? What they mean is that this particular site is so obviously dodgy that it's even futile to ask the question!!

From what fluhttahx says in some of the emails it indicates that a) they are young ["My best mates mum" and "I spend my life shopping (and studying)"] and b) they are either *very* young or possibly English is not their first language ("made my angry I am not a rodent"). Even if you are fluent in a language, slang and nuances and humor/sarcasm can be very hard to pick up. So I am happy to give fluhttahx the benefit of doubt and say that they are well meaning if perhaps naive.

So for their benefit I would confirm that at the site KB linked to, all the comments were negative or being derogatory eg:
1. Comment basically noting that 47% discount was a 'red flag' - with online shopping, the general rule of thumb is if it seems too good to be true, it is usually best to assume it is not true.
2. "Looks 110% legit" = something cannot be more than 100% legitimate. In fact something is either legitimate or not eg it is either day or night, it can't be 110% day. So, the writer was being sarcastic.
3. "...been in business for 5 months.... hotmail address" - Again, sarcasm. The business does not appear to have been in business for long, and the only contact information appears to be via an unverifiable email address so should there be an issue (goods not turning up, or turning up damaged) it would be very hard to contact.
4. A correction to the previous comment, noting that it was gmail not hotmail but in either case not good from the perspective of accountability.
The comments went on showing things like the domain registration details that also appeared to be untraceable (which is actually a no-no)

It is good that fluhttahx knows someone who has received a 'phone from them. Having said that, are they *sure* that what they got was actually a genuine iPhone? There are an incredible number of clone iPhones out there that could fool a person who had never owned an iPhone before (http://www.todaysiphone.com/2013/03/...). In fact there are examples of 'fake' iPhone parts even fooling apple (http://www.techinasia.com/scammers-c...)

Main point is that there are many concerns about the site itself that meant that although it was a good bargain if true, we believed that the risk that someone might not get what they thought they were buying was too high so did not believe that advertising them on this site was appropriate.

By the way, took less than five minutes of a quick search to find that the domain contact name ("zhiyong zheng") also had been associated with another domain with iphone4 in it that has since become defunct.

They seem to be linked to the "Shenzhen Ronghuada Electronic Factory" (Guangdong Province) that make cameras, radios, laser pointers, and some other items. The current website domain details lists the Fujian Province as home. Sadly, both the Guangdong and Fujian Provinces are up there in the list of places in China to be careful when dealing with as an individual (eg http://resources.alibaba.com/topic/2...)

Best bet would be if you bought something from there, you would either not receive anything or would not get what you were expecting.

Your account should now be deleted a third time for purposely promoting scam sites, posting personal attacks and being an idiot!

Hi riman. Like I noted before, I think we have to give them the benefit of doubt. It is quite possible they are young, naive, or both. Whatever the case, I would recommend we be careful about what we call people on the site, simply because I would hate this to go the way of some others that will remain nameless, but suffice it to say can be incredibly negative and almost actively discourage people to participate and I for one now generally avoid.

I believe we should judge the deals, not the people who list them. In this case the deal was seen to not just be bad but potentially a scam so was removed by the moderator(s). It should be understood as well that there will likely be other sites that the moderator and/or community decide to 'ban' due to various reasons such as poor service.

Unfortunately the person posting the deal did not accept this site was likely to be a scam, so kept posting links - until their account was removed. I fully support this decision - the continual posting of links to the site had all the hallmarks of a person or 'bot' linked to the site in question. If this has turned out to not be the case (ie it's a real person, not associated with the site, genuinely interested in finding bargains) and they accept that part of the terms of membership (which is free after all!) include the agreement that deals may undergo an approval process before or even after listing then I am sure they will be more than welcome to return & participate in the community.

Cheers
