Are used video games worth buying?

Lately I have been blowing my budget on video games and want to find a way around the issue, so been debating over whether to buy second hand games or not. These would be cheaper so I would save money but not so sure about the quality and what if there are scratches.

Any views on this? Has anyone bought used games and how was the experience?

I've bought them, and have been fine..... but I've only got them from shops where you should be able to take them back if there's an issue. I also save a lot of money by normally getting games from the likes of ozgameshop. It also helps if you're happy to wait a few months after a game has been released as the prices do go down. Sometimes you can pick them up new cheaper than you can secondhand! Just need to be careful that you do get console games from a shop that targets Australia - don't want to get an ntsc game that won't run on your pal console....

Seriously I don’t even remember when was the last time I purchased any video games, as we already have so much free stuff then why would anyone want to purchase it? If there is one that’s really too good then I will but otherwise I am happy with free ones.
