Are store loyalty cards worth it?

Just saw the David Jones further reductions deal, well it seems great 60% off but the discount is only available to store card members or David Jones American Express Card holders. Not having any of those presently I am feeling a bit left out and also questioning if store loyalty cards are worth the trouble or not?

Well I say trouble because soon they accumulate and I for one tend to leave them out of my wallet. Hence mostly when one is needed I don't have it and these go unused. Also at times you have to pay for getting one and when of those goes unused it kind of hurts.

I am not totally against store cards, but tend to put a limit on how many I have. I think that Woolworths' Everyday Rewards card is a good one to have, it is free to join and there are mostly really good member discounts and offers.

Do share your views, which ones you think are worth having?

I think they are good to have and use them if they are free like flybuys and everydayrewards.... but I haven't changed my shopping habits for them so any points I get are effectively extra for me. We probably get enough to pay for some gold class movie tickets each year, so it's a nice bonus on top of the points we get from using the credit card as well for the same purchases......
