you make sure you cancel the subscription well before the 14 days otherwise they will bill you. If you like it, I'd suggest after having the trial - get a copy of the Family Tree software ($72 here: http://www.estore.com.au/family-tree...). It's good software, plus comes with 6 months of UK Heritage Plus ie full access to AN/Z and UK records.

As an aside, many local libraries have full access to ancestry.com - so if you don't mind wandering down to the library to do your research, you can do it for free. You can also join local historical societies that also provide discounts and/or free access.

Thanks for the useful tips, sepcially cancelling the subscription well before 14 days. It has happened to me once when I took gym membership for G Fitness, and they charged me for full month even after cancellation.

Also checkout http://www.topbargains.com.au/forum/.... When I was doing some research into my family tree, I joined up - got a message from them a few days back saying that access to all their Australian records are now free until next year! Even if you prefer to use ancestry.com.au, you can always save information you find via findmypast into ancestry! Like ancestry, they also have a 14 day trial, and you can switch over to PAYG before the trial ends (which is what I did).
