Amazon.com - A Threat to Australian Retailers
We have spoken on this forum many many and mnay times that how Australian retail is so expensive and compelete rip-off.
But here is a good news :) Amazon.com is coming a threat for Australian retail. Amazon's low profitability of less than 1% as compared to 4% of Coles and Woolworths is a competitive advantage for the gaint.
I am buying more and more things from Amazon now, and really happy to see that now Amazon will reshape the industry. Hopefully, we will see better price, more customer service and better quality from Australian retailers.

Great article. I think the threat will be even more when Amazon set up local hub and ship from Australia. Last year, they moved their AWS set up to Australia and literally wiped out everyone else from enterprise hosting market and a similar thing will happen when they move their shipping based down-under.

Been buying things from Amazon for years.... Way back when they just did books! Would be hard to beat Amazon in many things due to their size, but definitely agree that local stores need to do better in general...

Ya, its sure that it would be a threat to the Australian retailer. Amazon is a giant company that has millions of products under its portfolio and has good delivery service. It will bring down the prices of products which is the main comeptitive factor which can pull customers.
