ALDI Crane Treadmill for $499 - worth buying?

This week ALDI has a 1.5 HP treadmill on sale for $499 and it doesn't look all that bad for the price. There are a few others in this price range at eBay but I am thinking Aldi will have better warranty if something goes wrong and they have a 2 year warranty on this machine.

There's a heart rate control input plus a decent control panel but no iPod jacks which is understandable for this price range.

One thing that I would like to see is the quality of running deck and how it feels. Hope I can find a demo machine at the local Aldi.

So is it a good buy or not a good buy?

Update:

I finally ended up getting a crane treadmill after a lot of hassle and it turned out to be a great disappoint. Really poor quality (plasticy look & feel) and it literally stopped working after a week or so and then it was a nightmare getting a refund on it as they wanted us to get it fixed by the supplier first and a million other excuses.

In the end, we got this one from eBay and I reckon it's one of the best deals in terms of price and specs etc.. Highly recommended over that piece of crap from aldi.

Quality of Aldi stuff can vary. Some can be really good value, others no so much. Some guides to treadmills here - I'd have a read then checkout the unit at Aldi. If it seems good, then think about getting it as long as you can take it back if it turns out to be rubbish....

thanks mate, this was an excellent resource.

by the way, Lifespan is the other option I have considered. They are selling for around the same price at eBay but I am not sure if warranty services with eBay sellers last any longer than 90 days.

FYI I went through a stage of buying exercise machines with all the best intentions and hardly ever use them! Great for when the weather is ordinary, but personally I now prefer just going for a walk and/or taking the bike out.

I buy a lot of Aldi products. I have not bought Treadmill from them but ALL other products I buy are half price as compared to other shops and very good quality as well. If I need to buy treadmill I will go ahead and just buy from Aldi without thinking twice.

I bought a treadmill, took it home, all 72kilos of it. 3 hours later had it assembled. Doesn't work. Phoned service who advised to return it to store. So do i do this, i.e. disassemble it, cart it back, obtain a replacement only to find it doesn't work either? Is it worth it?

You should return it if it doesn't work and wait for a week or 2 as you may find a better deal with more features for lesser price in the upcoming Christmas and boxing day sales.
