How to find cheap cinema tickets?

Nothing really compares to the experience of watching a film on the big screen but the price of tickets makes it a bit difficult to indulge in this luxury regularly. Can anyone share any tips on how to save money on cinema tickets.

Are there any websites I can check out to get deals on cinema tickets?

Joining the local cinema club or equivalent is usually good (eg https://villagecinemas.com.au/villag....... ours offers tickets at around the $8.50 mark - http://www.palacecinemas.com.au/movi...), or you can usually get books of 5 or 10 tickets at a discount. If you wouldn't use them all, can go halves/whatever with friends. Sometimes can get the vouchers at a further discount through clubs as well. We also tend to use our fly buys points to get gold class tickets for those special movies!

If you using telstra as a provider you then can purchase any movie ticket "not gold" at anytime for $11. Simply login into your account online and then purchase the movie ticket.
Sometime they have special where you buy voucher up to 20 ticket and price is $10, 9 or even $8 per ticket
All this is for Village cinemas
Hoyts you can either join member with them and pay from $11 annual fee "but they gave you 1 free ticket" then you can purchase with discount there after
OR if you have Optus account then again login purchase ticket through Optus you can get discount " Only for Hoyts"

Hope this help

On a related topic, if you like to also see the occasional live show, most cities have a 'half price' ticket box in town where you can get discounted tickets to all sorts of events. They can be full on theatrical productions, musicals, etc or guided tours or all sorts of things. Last weekend we got tickets to see 'Wicked' and saved about $50 for each ticket - A reserve ones so they were good seats as well. You need to be flexible ie sometimes the show you want may not have enough tickets so you might need to see something else, or you have to buy them on the day of the event, but if you can cope with those sorts of things it is definitely worth it.

Ones I know of include:

I find Event Cinemas to be the most overpriced with the least discount offers. The best near me is Ace Cinemas - if you join their club (it costs a bit to join but you recoup it + more on your second visit) you get 2 $10 tickets per movie and also a discount book which has Buy 1 Get 1 Free movie vouchers and other vouchers eg Buy 1 Get 1 Free choctop.

I like our local palace cinema - costs to join but you get a free ticket that basically covers that, and then you get a ticket each birthday. You can also buy two discounted tickets with the one membership card - so a couple only need the one card....
