Top 10 Tips for spending less and Enjoying more at the Easter Show

Sydney Easter Show

Easter is all about fun and quality family time. Festivity and celebrations are in the air, the most anticipated Easter Royal Sydney show is also approaching soon. This calls for great fun but with that comes a “Budget Concern” and most people look for cheap Easter show tickets or some other ways to save money. Nothing is better than making the most out of least you have, but having maximum fun in the minimum money spent is even more amazing.

Here are few tips to cut down the expenses for your family trip to the Sydney Royal Easter Show this year.

1: Patience Saves Money - Get Cheap Easter Show Tickets

Ever wondered that show tickets usually do take up a greater chunk of the money that you want to spare on your kids and family during the Easter Show? Yes, they do!!

One simple way to save on Easter Show tickets is wait until the last day (23rd of April) when the price of the kids’ tickets actually goes down to $13 each for that one day. You (and more importantly your kids) just need to be a bit patient.

And if you cannot wait that long, look around for Easter show coupons & deals that can possibly save you a few bucks (up to 25% off Easter show coupons have been seen). The reason I am not including any specific coupons here is that they come and go, but you can find something if you look around hard. Many large workplaces and organizations like NRMA do have access to Easter Show discounts so make sure to ask around.

If you go to the show after 5 pm, you can simply get 30% off on special late entry Easter show tickets. So, the saved money can be spent on getting your kids their favorite stuff.

2: Fuel your pocket - Park wisely

Public transport can always be more suitable if a public place or event is your destination. You can simply save the money that you are going to spend on parking your vehicle by opting for public transport and if you buy Showlink tickets online, you also get free travel on public transport within greater Sydney region.

In case you want to take the car, be sure you get there in time, find a place where free parking option is available (hint: there are many free spots in the nearby Bicentennial Park), otherwise you are going to pay $25 fixed parking fee regardless of how long do you plan to stay there. But parking at Bicentennial Park would mean a 500-700m walk to the show. Choice is yours!! Either you can park and pay or just walk and fuel your pocket with the saving.

3: Make Sure it’s your Day

You are likely to miss out on stuff if you choose to go on the days when it’s houseful there. So it is always better to pick days when there is not so much crowd so that you can have maximum fun out there. It is better to avoid weekends and picking a day before NSW School Holidays would be ideal. This Easter 10th April Thursday and 11th April Friday are likely to be the least busy days.

4: Look out for FREE fun at the show

Some things do come free in life. There is no such rule that you always have to pay in order to have fun. Right? There are many activities out there in show that you can take part in without spending a penny. In fact the true essence of the festival lies in those activities, for example the Grand Opening Parade, the Royal Dog Show, The D-MAX Precision Driving Team show and many others like that are FREE to enjoy.

5: Be Your Own Chef

Kids usually get tempted by the presence of Junk food that’s not only over priced but is also very unhealthy. This is an alarming concern of parents… The best way around it is to take your own home made snacks along to the show in order to avoid spending too much on the food out there.

Still, if kids insist on having something from there, my pick would be buttered corn which is relatively cheap and you will not get it elsewhere.

6: Let Your Kids Learn & Explore

It usually gets hard for kids to stick to books and learn stuff about animals & fresh produce by just looking at pictures. At Royal Easter Show, you have an amazing opportunity to let your kids get engaged in activity based learning and allow them to explore different animal and food exhibits.

You can take them to Farmyard Nursery where they can get to see the animals and participate in many activities that are being offered for free. Look out for those activities and encourage them to take part in activities like rolling pastries, collecting eggs etc. to help them develop their interests in farming and related stuff.

7: Discounts on Ride Coupons

Most kids love rides like Fantasy Cups, Kite Flyer, Jurassic Coaster etc. as they are the most exciting part of the show for them. You should let them enjoy the rides but try to save money on carnival ride coupons at the same time. On saving tip is that if you buy e-coupons online for the carnival rides, you are likely to save up to 27% when purchased in bulk. If you are planning your visit with other families, you can simply pool in money to get better rates.

8: It’s not Just About Kids

Just don’t think that the show is all about kids, you also need some fun. So look out for adult entertainment stuff out there, big people rides you might like or some other things that may appeal to you. Just do something fun because Your happiness MATTERS TOO!! :)

9: Be your own Photographer, Save Heaps

You definitely want to treasure family moments for life, don’t you? At such festivals and shows people end up spending a fair amount of lot of money on the photographs of your kids being taken on rides and during activities, up to $20 per print. Why spend that much money? Just take a camera or mobile phone along and capture your moments for free and you can get them printed later on at Kmart at very affordable rates.

10: Enjoy Hard but Stay Safe

Festivals and shows come with large crowds, and you could easily lose sight of your kids? In order to avoid any incidents, just ensure that you get safety wrist bands for your kids and add your contact information on them. The fun should be there but safety comes first. These bands are available free of cost at the show so do not miss out on them. In case you want to get your own, just go to eBay and get a pack of 10 for around $10.

I hope these tips helped, please be sure to share them with your friends and family and add your own tips in the comments section below. Have fun at the Show!!

Easter show is very popular is Sydney and my children are waiting for this show to start soon. This informaiton is useful from planning perspective to save money. Last year I spend over $300 for one day because we spend whole day at the show. We planned nothing and bought very expensive food from the show.
